Chelsea vs Tottenham: Jackson double boosts Blues' top-four hopes

Blues dealt a huge blow to Tottenham's top-four hopes and boosted their own with a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge

Nicolas Jackson scored twice as Chelsea dealt a huge blow to Tottenham's top-four hopes and boosted their own with a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Thursday.

The result leaves Chelsea fifth in the Premier League table, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham with three games remaining.

Tottenham, who have now lost three of their last four league games, remain in fourth place but their hopes of securing a Champions League spot are now hanging in the balance.

Chelsea took the lead in the 19th minute when Jackson headed home a cross from Reece James.

The Blues doubled their lead in the 57th minute when Jackson fired home from close range after being set up by Kai Havertz.

Tottenham had chances to get back into the game, but they were unable to find a way past Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

The win was Chelsea's first in four Premier League games and it gives them a much-needed boost in their bid to finish in the top four.

For Tottenham, the defeat is a major setback in their hopes of securing a Champions League spot.

Tottenham will now need to win their remaining three games and hope that Chelsea drop points in order to secure a top-four finish.
